What a weekend!

What a weekend!

Our Club’s diversity really showed this weekend as we had four events going on involving club members.

A team of LFGA Volunteers working with the ACA has started releasing Pheasants in our region as of the end of last week/weekend.

The LFGA Open Sight-In Clinic was heavily attended including a large number of non member hunters sighting in their rifles.  This Clinic is always a favorite and is provided as a Public Safety Service to promote firearm safety and ethical hunting.

Our Volunteer Organiser, Madeline Balla had this to share:

It was another success.  Five people were waiting for Doug and I when we got to the gates. 40 people in by noon.  Stats are

4 non member youth, 36 non members, 11 members

Volunteer

George Roth 5 hours, Dave Fisher 7.5 hours, Doug Balla 7.5 hours, Mad Balla 7.5 hours

$55.00 in donations

We will probably get three to five new members come the new year because of the help that LFGA gives to its members and non members with programs like the site-in day.

The Mentored Youth Pheasant Hunt reported excellent participation and sharing of skills and knowledge. Our Volunteer Range Operator and many volunteers as well as partners in the Alberta Conservation Association help make this a yearly reality.  The goal of this program is to teach fundamental skills and knowledge leading to better firearm safety, conservation practices and ethical hunters.  Participants learned to identify, harvest and clean their birds.  Knowing you can feed yourself is a fundamental skill that empowers and enriches!

Youth from the LFGA/Southern Alberta Firearms Education Society and their mentors took part and put in a very strong performance at the IPSC Alberta Qualifier Matches this last weekend in Taber.
