President’s Thanksgiving Message
Best wishes from your outdoor community.
We have so much to be thankful for as we transition from the developments, growth, and financial successes of summer into the fall and winter seasons. It’s a time for harvest, hunting, and new winter projects. Let us also take a moment to recognize the many people who have accomplished so much on our behalf.
We give thanks for our fantastic volunteers and remember the special contributions of those who have made a lasting impact.
We thank Frank Pawlak, who has passed, for the memories he left us through many building projects, including the BBQ shelter.
We thank Fred Watmough, who has made significant contributions through his farm-based expertise — helping fix our roads and guiding the purchase of our new tractor and mower. He is currently in palliative care.
We thank the volunteers in the Odd Jobs Squad for their generous contributions of knowledge, skill, professionalism, and hard work.
We thank our Community Partners, whose gifts-in-kind and financial support continue to help us thrive.
We thank the agencies and clients who rent our facilities and provide the additional revenue that helps keep our fees reasonable and our programs well-funded.
We thank the Alberta Conservation Association for their support of all Albertans and for the grants that enhance our programs, habitat initiatives, and educational projects.
We thank all the chairs and organizers who have led our programs and events.
We thank our executive team, who stepped up to fill the gaps left by others and continue to navigate the complexities of funding, culture, values, and the political realities of operating a range in the heart of the city.
We thank our federal, provincial, and civic leaders who understand our value to society and continue to show their support by attending our meetings and events.
Lastly, we thank our members, who comprise this wonderful learning community—one that has continued to grow despite the challenges of COVID-19 and economic hardship.
As President, I am truly thankful this Thanksgiving for the support I receive from all of you.
You make our community a great place to retire, to contribute, and to belong.
With best wishes,
Rick
