Candidate Questionnaire:

1. Do you support community-led organizations like the LFGA in their eƯorts to promote
conservation, ethical hunting, and responsible firearms use for sport and education?

Yes. Organizations such as LFGA play a vital role in conservation, outdoor education, and
responsible recreation. Your volunteer-driven leadership, community partnerships, and focus on
safety and stewardship align with how I believe our city should approach outdoor spaces – through
collaboration and education.

2. In your view, what role should the City of Lethbridge play in protecting access to outdoor
spaces for recreation, conservation, and education? How will municipal policies ensure
that legal, permitted outdoor recreational facilities, such as shooting sports ranges, are
recognized and protected as part of the broader community landscape, and not unfairly
impacted by land use changes such as urban growth or rezoning?

The City’s role is to plan responsibly, ensuring that outdoor recreation spaces, including facilities
like the LFGA range, are recognized as valued community assets. These spaces contribute to
recreation, sport development, and education, and should be treated with the same long-term
respect given to other sports facilities.

3. Should recreational activities such as sport shooting and archery receive equal
consideration alongside other sports in municipal planning and recreation policy? Would you support including representatives from these sports as formal stakeholders in long-term discussions around recreation, land use, and community health planning?

Yes. Recreational shooting, archery, and hunting sports deserve equal recognition alongside other
community recreation activities. Including stakeholder representation from these sports in
recreation, health, and land-use discussions ensures informed, balanced decision-making. I’ve
consistently supported broad community engagement and would welcome LFGA’s participation in
these processes.

4. Do you personally participate in outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, archery, or shooting
sports? If so, please share how those experiences shape your views on land use and
recreation.

While I personally don’t hunt or shoot, I have friends and colleagues who are LFGA members and
ethical hunters. Their commitment to conservation, education, and safe recreation has shaped my
understanding of the important role outdoor sports play in our community, not only in recreation
but in responsible land stewardship and respect for nature. I have also attended National Open
Range Day to try shooting sports and learn more about what LFGA does, and when I was the owner
and publisher of Lethbridge living magazine we supported LFGA through a feature story, highlighting
the facility, and important work that your group does in our community.

5. In one or two sentences: Why do you believe you are the best candidate to support
organizations like LFGA and the values we represent?

Because I believe in responsible, community-based stewardship that includes protecting the
natural assets that define our region and supporting those who use them responsibly – such as this
organization and its membership. I’m results-driven, balanced, and grounded in evidence-based
decision-making that supports both conservation and community access. I also appreciate the
education this organization oƯers around recreational shooting, archery, and hunting sports.
Without organizations like LFGA that educational and experiential opportunity wouldn’t be available
in our area.

6. Is there anything else you’d like our membership to know about your views on outdoor
recreation, conservation, or supporting legal firearm owners.
Outdoor recreation, habitat protection, and conservation are essential parts of the Southern Alberta identity and economy. Legal, responsible firearm ownership and ethical hunting are long-standing traditions that contribute to both community wellness and education. I believe the City’s role is to work with community partners such as LFGA to strengthen environmental policy, expand access to safe outdoor spaces, and promote respect, safety, and understanding.
