To all the members of the Fish and Game Association,
 
It is with profound sadness we announce that one of our members passed away
suddenly on Wednesday, June 3 rd .
 
A large number of the membership will have known Dan Opel as strong supporter
of the shooting sports, in particular the Benchrest community in Canada. Dan was
the President of the BRSC, a member of various Canadian Benchrest teams and
sponsor of many competitions and activities on and off the range.

Dan was on the Canadian Benchrest Team and represented Canada in the World
Benchrest Championships in USA 2005, Austria in 2007 and New Zealand in 2017.
In 2016, Dan took first place and was crowned the BRSC, 2 Gun – Canadian
National Champion in Benchrest.
 
Dan was incredibly kind hearted and generous with his knowledge and time. He
was always willing to share his knowledge surrounding the sport he truly loved and
was so passionate about. He never missed a match, or passed up a chance to
volunteer, and was always the first to mentor a new competitor. He was the model
of good sportsmanship we should all strive for.
 
Dan was well-known to so many shooters near and far, and will be greatly missed.
