August 10-11, 2024

Based on the principles of Tactical Combat Casualty Care, this course is designed over the span of two days to provide you with the practical knowledge and hands-on skills that are necessary to intervene and bridge the gap between trauma in the field and emergency medical response. This is NOT your traditional first aid course. We utilize scenario based training over two days to ensure students are competent in the course material. 

Minimum age: 18 yrs old

Course Syllabus: 

  • Why these skills are important on the range or in the field The nature of potential trauma sources 
  • Bridging the gap between injury and care 
  • Principles of PFTC 
  • WIN 
  • MARCHE 
  • ABCs of traditional first aid 
  • 10 second triage 
  • Self checks/ buddy checks 
  • Treating major bleeds and the types of hemorrhage 
  • Tourniquets and their application in the field 
  • Managing airways and unconscious patients 
  • Respiration and penetrating chest wounds 
  • Hypothermia 
  • Practical skills to improve survivability 
  • Lifts and carries 
  • IFAK loadouts and the equipment you need to have with you 

Cost $600 per person (First 5 registrants will receive a $100 discount!)

This course is for everyone but is a recommended skill for firearms users/ range officers, hunters, LE/MIL and anyone engaged in outdoor sports/ adventure

What you need to bring: 

  • Notepad and pen or laptop for note taking 
  • Your current IFAK kit, First Aid Kit or blowout bag if you have one (if you don’t, we will have supplies for training) 
  • Lunch, snacks and drinks for both days 
  • A pair of pants you’re willing to cut up/ destroy 
  • An open mind and willingness to learn and be exposed to new skills

Instructor Bios

Curtis Johnson 

Curtis Johnson has made a living over the past 12 years as a member of law enforcement working in front-line, investigational, and tactical operations as an operator on a tactical team. Curtis is also a member of the law enforcement training cadre for his agency and instructs on topics which include police officer trauma care and advanced vehicle operations. Curtis has had opportunities to train with members of Canadian, US Special Forces, and members of different tactical teams and brings a wealth of experience in firearms, range, field and practical skills to the civilian sector. 

Jason Richmond 

Jason Richmond has made a living for the last 13 years as a member of law enforcement working in front-line policing, investigational services and as a use of force instructor. Jason is currently a full time use of force instructor within his agency in firearms, control tactics, emergency vehicle operations, de-escalation, and police officer trauma care. Jason was previously certified as a first aid instructor and an emergency medical responder through the Alberta College of Paramedics where he worked in the oilfield industry and has had the opportunity to provide care in training environments and to live casualties.
