Do you support the continued operation of the Lethbridge Fish & Game Shooting Sports Facility in its current location in Pennaquim Park?

During one of the tours of the facility prior to our last CIP, I asked if the operation, located in the current location, was supported by the LFGA. I was told that with appropriate approved CIP funding, the Pennaquim Park location would best serve the members. I will continue to support the membership with their recommendations as they continue to demonstrate safe practice and education in our community.

Do you believe the City of Lethbridge has an obligation to residents by assisting the Lethbridge Fish and Game Association provide a safe, controlled environment to use firearms?

Absolutely! This was one of the main reasons we supported the CIP request from the LFGA in the last CIP. The City of Lethbridge has an obligation to assure safety to all citizens in the community and by supporting the LFGA the way we did, I am confident the association will do all they can to help with this safety.

Do you agree that the LFGA Shooting Sports Facility represents an important community sport and recreation resource?

The LFGA Shooting Sports Facility does represent an important community sport and recreation resource. If this facility was not available to the citizens, we would have individuals shooting in random fields or unsafe areas in the community and surrounding areas. The LFGA facility provides an extremely safe way to enjoy the sport for all. This also gives the opportunity for those interested in the sport to have the necessary education on how to enjoy the sport in a safe manner.

Do you believe that the LFGA Shooting Sports Facility should be treated differently than other sporting venues by the City of Lethbridge? If so, how?

The LFGA Shooting Sports Facility should be treated fairly and equitably as the other sporting venues in the City of Lethbridge. Each and every venue should have its own set of guidelines around safety for their members and through the many tours I have done to the LFGS facility, this organization has done an amazing job with assuring safety to all.

What is your position on ethical hunting and our need to support modern methods of wildlife management.

I support ethical hunting as it is a method to support wildlife management.

How would you support the extensive conservation, environment protection and revitalization, and wildlife management programs we provide?

The LFGA has offered extensive programs and instructional courses for many years and the dedication this organization puts into educating the community is second to none.

Have you ever worked with the LFGA in the past and what was your experience?

I have not personally worked with the LFGA in the past but did do my due diligence through research when the CIP facility enhancement was before us at Council. I have had the opportunity to meet with various members through the years by way of touring the current facility as well as personal conversations with LFGA members. I have the upmost respect for the leadership and their input.
