Range 2 – Centre Fire Rifle Range

  • All range users MUST be LFGA range members or possess valid day passes and carry same when on the range.
  • The normal equipment used at this range and the normal operation of this range is indicated in the following descriptions.
  • On an exception basis (pre-approved matches, league, or range bookings) the use of other equipment may be allowed at the discretion of the Range Operator.
  • At all other times these rules are in force.

Range Description

Location: Directly across from the front gates adjacent to the garage

Description: Centre Fire Rifle Range

Advance warning system:  RED lights above the two entrances to covered firing line

Active firing line: RED lights above the three entrances to covered firing line; RED lights on metal supports opposite each entrance; RED lights on north and south ends of covered firing line

Firing has ceased:   RED lights are OFF

Number of Firing Points:   16

Firing Distances:
300 yards paper and steel
200 yards paper
100 yards paper
25 yards paper

Approved Firearms: All center-fire rifles under .50 cal, all black powder rifles and rim fire rifles only if there is adequate room for rim fire shooters. Note: Rifles Only

Approved Targets: Paper targets and enclosed, permanent steel reactive targets as provided by the Range Operator

Approved Ammunition: All except:
no steel core, incendiary, tracer or armor piercing bullet designs

Note: Centre fire rifle shooters have priority over rim fire shooters

  1. No firing before 8 AM (9 AM on Sunday’s) and no firing after sunset or 9 PM (whichever is earlier).
  2. No firing if target visibility is reduced as determined by the Range Officer.
  3. Only enter the range via the 3 entrance doors to the covered firing line. (Do not enter by side of building)
  4. Turn ON Red lights while the range is ACTIVE and turn off Red lights when shooters are down range
  5. Use approved firearms and ammunition only.
  6. Use approved targets only and these must be posted on target boards provided by the range operators.
  7. All firing will be done from under the covered firing line and every bullet discharged will remain within the LFG range
  8. When firing the muzzle direction must always be down range, and the muzzle must never be raised more than 30 degrees from ground level.
  9. Loaded firearms are allowed only at an active firing line. Loaded firearms shall never be left unattended.
  10. Do not move or transport loaded firearms between ranges, vehicles or firearm safety areas.
  11. Unattended firearms shall be unloaded with the action left open.
  12. As a courtesy to others on the line, only one (1) round in your firearm at a time.  Please make sure other shooters will not be disturbed when shooting semi-automatic.
  13. Hang fires will be disposed of in the container provided.
  14. When shooters are down-range, do not handle your firearms at the firing line for any reason.
  15. Hearing protection for shooters and range staff in near proximity to an active firing line is mandatory.
  16. Eye protection for shooters and range staff in near proximity to an active firing line is mandatory.
  17. All spent cartridge cases must be collected and disposed of in containers provided or removed from range.
  18. At the conclusion of each and every use of the range, all firing points are to be cleared of brass and debris,  all paper targets removed, lights off and power supply unplugged.
  19. Firearm Safety areas will be established, as required to ensure safe practices, by the Range Officer as dictated by the specific shooting circumstances. Live ammunition is prohibited in firearm safety areas.
  20. At no time are glass, pop cans or similar items allowed to be targets on the range facility.
  21. The detonation of explosive devices is prohibited on the range property.
  22. Burning of garbage is prohibited. All garbage is to be collected, bagged and taken to the garbage bin located at the main gate or otherwise removed from the range property.
